Relic as a small urn for ashes

Steel Gold Keepsake

A reliquary is most often associated with liturgical paraphernalia, but a reliquary is also called a small urn for ashes that holds a small amount of ashes.

It is a small container for ashes, used as a companion urn to a larger, full-sized urn. Our reliquaries have capacities ranging from 0.01 liters to 0.50 liters. The reliquary can also be used as a single urn, such as for a household pet. A common use of a reliquary is also to store mementos from places that are important to us, such as: soil, sand and others.

How is a reliquary different from an ordinary urn?

companion urn, large and small urn

Relics differ from an ordinary urn primarily in size and use. They can be an identical, smaller counterpart or look completely different. Materials are used that are identical to those for larger urns. Relics function as small containers for part of the ashes or for all of the ashes of a small being.

In what situations do people choose small urns?

Relics are ideal in several situations. Because they are very small in size, they are used where large urns would be impractical.

They allow you to divide the ashes of a deceased person into several portions, so that each family member can keep a piece of the deceased’s mortal remains with them. This is a great solution for large families or married couples with many children. Dividing the ashes among family members can honor the memory of the deceased.

When the last wish of the deceased was to be buried in a cemetery or scattered ashes, a reliquary allows you to simultaneously respect the will of the deceased and at the same time keep a small part of your loved one close to you.

Some people choose a reliquary because of housing conditions and limited space. It is easier to find a suitable space for such a small urn, especially if you have a cramped apartment.

Some of our reliquaries can serve as urns for the ashes of small pets.

What are reliquaries made of?

Like full-size urns, they are made from a variety of materials. They are always durable and elegantly finished urns. They are most often intended for storage in a home or columbarium and also serve as a decorative element.

Can the reliquary be personalized?

Of course, they do. In the case of sharing the ashes among family members, everyone can choose their own personal text to put on the reliquary. The text is laser-engraved on a gold or silver plaque. In case there is no possibility to stick it on the urn, we add a commemorative badge standing separately.

Most pets need a small container for ashes. A reliquary will work perfectly in this function. For dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters and other small pets, an urn of this type may be sufficient.
It is also a good idea to personalize such an urn, as it will make it easier for us to revisit past moments with memories. The small size of the urn will make it easier for us to keep the remains close together.
