What are urns for ashes? These are containers designed to hold the ashes of a deceased person who has been cremated. Times are changing, the world is moving with progress.
Urns for ashes vs. tradition.
In Poland, a very deeply rooted tradition is burial in a coffin, as urns are something new and less common in our culture. Especially in rural areas, people are more inclined to traditional burials.

People, despite their strong attachment to tradition and religion, are slowly beginning to recognize the advantages associated with cremation. Undoubtedly, a big plus is the lower cost of cremation, since most urns are simply cheaper than a classic coffin.
Consequently, we need to hire fewer people to handle the funeral ceremony, for the reason that a funeral urn can be carried by one person. With a classic coffin, we need several people.
Cremation of corpses is also viewed differently these days by priests and cemetery managers, who are constantly expanding. As a result, we are seeing the emergence of columbariums, adapted for the storage of funeral urns.
Cremation also has the advantage of saving space. Ever-expanding necropolises are narrowing living space more and more over time, especially in densely populated cities.
Coffin or urn for ashes?
Making decisions, related to the organization of the funeral of a loved one is always difficult. When choosing, you need to think about many aspects of this decision, because in addition to financial issues, you need to take into account, for example, the last will of the deceased person or the wishes of the immediate family.
Which urn to choose?
When choosing a funeral urn, we need to consider several issues.
To begin with, we need to choose an urn with the right capacity so that the ashes will fit into it completely. How to do this? Just use a specially prepared calculator, where you enter the approximate weight of the body, then you will receive an answer as to what kind of urn you need.
Urns for children will be smaller than urns intended for adults. There are also large XL-sized urns, designed for the ashes of two adults.
Next, consider the materials the urn will be made of. If the urn is to be placed in a grave, avoid wood or other materials sensitive to moisture. A much better option is a stainless steel urn. If the urn is to be placed in a columbarium, wooden urns perform perfectly.
Urns are also divided into religious and secular. Depending on whether the deceased person was religious or not. Secular urns do not have any religious emblems or decorations on them.
